Scribbly Moth Designs
A Little About Me

The scribbly moth caterpillar leaves a trail of markings on the trunk of a certain type of euclid tree. The marks that are left are a map of its journey. Like the caterpillar, I have always mapped my life with various kinds of art and photography. They allow me to express the feelings and textures of my surroundings.

I studied fiber arts at the Kansas City Art Institute, and graduated from there with a B.F.A. in 2001. Since then, I have spent my time traveling with my husband, working, and most recently, having our first child.

How Things Work

I want to help you record your own life's textures. I love capturing the looks and moments that don't always get recorded. I am also more interested in photographing people interacting outdoors or in the comfort of their homes rather than in a strange, studio environment.

I will take between sixty and seventy photographs, from which you will receive fifty to sixty after standard editing. Within one to two weeks of your session, I will deliver or mail to you (whichever you prefer) a disc with all of your picture files, and a single set of 4x6 prints. At that point, you have control of the negatives, and can get as many prints as you want from wherever you want.

Currently, I'm scheduling two to three weeks in advance. Plan on your photo shoot taking one to two hours. Babies may be on the longer end due to the frequency of feedings and diaper changes. I will work as long as needed to get shots that you love.

Above all else, I want you to relax, have fun as a family, and not worry about how the photos will look!

Some Things to Consider

...location ideas...

Your home, a favorite playground, the Nelson-Atkins lawn, Loose park, your favorite college campus...pretty much anywhere outdoors or indoors where you feel comfortable.

...attire...

Ultimately, whatever you want. Here are some things to consider though. High contrast colors work well, as do bright, rich colors. You may want to consider going with a similiar color theme as a family. Overall, it is best to avoid clothing with logos and too much pattern. If the session is taking place at your home, you are welcome to make one or two clothing changes, as long as they are brief.
